between 1968 and maybe a decade ago, there was a bar next to the U of Utah called Big Ed's, and I think you know the place already: the beer is not very good. zero photons of outside light are permitted. even the most hardened tobacco addict on the planet could survive for years just by licking the condensed nicotine off the walls.
anyway, before Big Ed's closed (the owner apparently had a gambling problem and borrowed a lot of money before leaving town suddenly), one of the items on the menu was The Godawful: a huge pile of hash browns topped with chili topped with fried eggs topped with cheese topped with raw onions. with a bit of hot sauce it was a glorious, perfect food. you could not eat it very often and survive, but still it was amazing.

anyhow, when home alone I still make myself one of these sometimes ๐Ÿ˜‹

alt: itโ€™s a Godawful, read the parent for a description, although mine is probably a lot healthier than the original

@regehr with like idaho spuds hashbrowns I could see the vision. I actually have something similar for a regular breakfast item, just without the onions
@ashguy just an over easy egg on fried potatoes is something I eat probably 40 times a year
