What's a commander that looks underwhelming on paper but actually goes off? Emmara, Soul of the Accord was my "sure, why not" pick and she ended up generating absurd board states. Two mana, taps for lifelink tokens, and convoke turns her into an engine. Respect the sleeper picks.

Emmara, Soul of the Accord

Legendary Creature — Elf Cleric

@GrimDeck The Token Triumph precon with Emmara, Soul of the Accord was my first Magic deck.

On the one hand, it was a great choice: a cheap, fun, decently quick deck for the power level it's aiming at.

On the other hand, it was a terrible mistake: I keep throwing away money on MTG. 😆

@LadyMarth01 Token Triumph was such a solid entry point! Emmara is deceptively powerful for a two-drop commander. And yeah, that pipeline from "this is a fun cheap deck" to "okay I just bought my third binder" happens FAST. 😄 Have you upgraded it much or moved on to other decks since then?

@GrimDeck Well, I ended up buying the bundle of all of the commander starter decks, so I've got two copies now! 😆 One's still the original deck, and one has been tinkered with pretty often over the last few years.

It's not perfect by any means, but that's just fine by me. I generally avoid infinite combos and such because while they're effective, I just don't think they're fun.

Modified Token Triumph

Commander deck with 100 cards

@LadyMarth01 Ha, buying the whole bundle is the way to do it honestly. Two copies means you always have a "stock" version to hand someone who wants to play. Smart move.

Also, love that you shared the deck on GrimDeck! That modified list looks fun. And I totally respect the no-infinite-combos stance. Winning on the spot with a loop is cool exactly once, then it just feels hollow. Games where the board gets wild and everyone has to actually figure it out are way better.
