The side of the Earth we’re not used to seeing

The Pacific Ocean covers 32.4% of the planet’s surface (more than all land & ice combined)

The ocean’s widest point is 19,800km. The circumference of the Earth’s equator is 40,075km

The ocean has absorbed more than 90% of the extra heat created by human activity. If the same amount of heat taken
up in the upper 2 km of the ocean had gone into the atmosphere, the surface of the Earth would have warmed by 36°C,
rather than ~1°C, over the past century.
