mesh networking is fucked up bc you see that a node is like <$50 and you're like cool this is a pretty low barrier of entry and then before you know it you're speccing out multiple unattended solar repeater systems and hundred-dollar runs of low loss coax to a ten dollar transceiver
i probably should not be putting 30ft of lmr400 or fuckin lmr600 between an entire transceiver that could probably live directly atop the antenna mast. twinlead for power is way cheaper

the one uhf tv station i saw inside (channel 28) used waveguide up the tower. the dummy load was cute: a taper to a short with a water jacket plumbed to a (thermal) radiator outside the building.
