Another Angry WomanAbsolute scenes on my road today as a lorry fucked up a turn and has got itself wedged across the road like that ship in the suez canal
A very bossy lady has appeared and taken it on herself to redirect traffic. Standing in the road waving cars up side streets.
The lorry appears to have hurt itself in wedging itself along the full width of the road. Bossy lady is simultaneously directing traffic and trying to guide it into some sort of less silly position.
A man has now turned up to gesticulate at the lorry in some sort of attempt to signal that it should maybe try to move from out of the middle of the road.
A tiny success of sorts! The lorry has crawled into a position where it is only blocking one lane. However, it is very, very sick and will need to be rescued. I am excited to see what sort of lorry turns up to rescue a poorly lorry.
Update: no movement. Poor lil dude is still sitting there, hazards forlornly blinking
Bad news: I have to leave the house for a few hours. Good news: meant I got to take a closer look at the stricken lorry on the way out. Bad news: I don't know how vehicles work so I couldn't possibly tell you what's wrong with it.
What I can say is that sickly lorry has signs on it warning of flammable stuff inside, so that's fun
I will let you know if the lil guy is still there when I get back
Sorry for everyone who was emotionally invested in this story, I went to the pub after work. Anyway, as an update, the lorry is still there, still blinking its hazards, and it feels like it's with increasing desperation.

There was no way it was getting back down, and there was no way it was getting up to the top ... and even if it were at the top the hairpins were much tighter on the way down the other side.
I've no idea how they got it out, if indeed it's not still there. A Chinook perhaps??
In both cases this is called "being too cheap to pay for a proper professional satnav that knows about routing trucks, whilst also being too ignorant to read a paper map".

Coming back from a parental visit in Scotland after Christmas, there was a replacement bus from Cambridge North to Cambridge. Bus turned from East Road onto Mill Road and then turned left from Mill Road into Gwydir Street, drove up as far as the barrier, then into Gwydir enterprise centre.

Now, for people unfamiliar with Cambridge, Gwydir street is very narrow with parked cars half on the pavement making it narrower still, and Gwydir Enterprise Centre is in no sense designed for buses.
So it necessitated an umpteen point turn, including a horrible crunching noise while reversing. Then failed to turn off Mill Road again and went all the way to Coleridge Road, so when it got near to home we asked and were allowed to get off. Never found out what crunched.
