Antscan's 3D Scanning Reveals Ant Anatomy

How does a particle accelerator help us understand ants like never before?

@wtrmt @futurebird On a semi-related note, the Berlin Naturkundemuseum has a fantastic giant model of an ant eating some honeydew that I spent quite a bit of time looking at. The ant is about the size of a beagle and beautifully detailed.

Like that.

I recall reading a thing on a speculative-sciency blog some years ago that basically suggested that if ants had all the attributes we know, but were the size of Jack Russell terriers (with speed and strength scaled accordingly), they'd likely be the dominant species on this planet.

Fairly silly nonsense, but made a fun seed idea for some scary #MicroFiction back when πŸ€”
