@maxine the fact that framework exists and took some of their business is the reason they made those.
The question is if this is a permanently learned lesson or just a PR straw fire.

I, personally, don't see an end to the age of enshittification yet.

@maxine the funniest thing I've read about this is "Lenovo just blatantly copied FW". Not only does it seem to be wrong, but also: yeah, what if? Isn't that exactly what we all want? How can this development be bad?

@maxine ThinkPads have *always* been easy to repair. If you buy one, look for the "HMM" (Hardware Maintenance Manual) it lists all the components and procedures.

@claudius I am very glad that you can resolder a usb-c port at home, but I cannot, and so the switch to daughter boards for ports and easily swappable screen assemblies is personally welcome.

@maxine I never claimed that. But when the comparison is Framework, then ThinkPads have had a similar level since forever.

It's nice that they extended that beyond their previous (good) level, but while I have upgraded all my laptops, and replaced batteries for most, replaced the screen on one, i never had a faulty USB, HDMI or charging port on any of them.
