@collinsworth The toxicity of the 'real man' idea is insidious and gross, but also definitely stupid and mean!
Even knowing that, and knowing marketers will eventually attempt to leverage any angle of insecurity they can, its still striking when I see it seep into new products like cereal.
Thanks for calling out the insecurity of those who are so desperate to be perceived as secure, and challenging false and imposed stereotypes.
Additionally, ads are mind poison
@collinsworth throw back Thursday to when teenage me was too embarrassed to use chapstick because I thought that lip balm was too feminine. So I just walked around with horribly chapped lips all of the time like a real man
