Thinking of getting a MacBook Air instead of a pro. If all I’m doing is Logic and some coding, I don’t know that I’m seeing much benefit.
@collin the biggest difference between them (if performance isn't an issue) is screen quality/brightness. The Pro's screen is significantly better than the Air’s.
@iamwcr yeah. Also bigger an heavier though. So that’s a trade off.
@collin yup, I have a MBP 14” on my desk that I barely take anywhere apart from on holiday because I find my MBA significantly more portable.
@collin I have 14” M2 Pro MBP, non-tech wife has 13” M2 Air. My next machine will be an Air
@collin does the display still suck? Traditionally, that’s been the reason I never got one.
@collin I’m in the same boat. For the first time in my life, the best chips on the market are above my needs by an order of magnitude. A base M4 can do everything I need. Just 10 years ago I needed the top Core intel series to do what I wanted. Crazy times we live in.
@privilegejunkie Yeah. I don’t think there’s anything I’m going to do recording music or writing code that needs more than a base M5.
@collin As someone working on a decently sized codebase for the day job with a base M3, I'm sure a MacBook Air will be fine.
@collin I've had both and ended up going with the Pro for the better screen, but that's a probably just me caring too much about screens.
