I'm two episodes away from finishing #kdrama #IlJiMae Got to say, up until episode 13, this felt like homework, and I don't mean because of the historical content. I need things a little tighter.

Also, admittedly, my enjoyment was tempered by the knowledge that the second lead was credibly accused of sexual assault.

@dnkboston
Glad that I dropped this one. I can tolerate some sloppiness in the historicals when the follow an interesting true story, but not when they start to feel terribly silly.
@EllenInEdmonton How far did you get? There are some thought-provoking aspects, but as with any disguises, you're always like, really, you can't tell? And the story is also so close to Hong Gildong, it's head scratching that it never comes up.
@dnkboston
I think that our watch group only got to 3 or 4 episodes. I've never been tempted to go back to it.
Currently, I'm watching Lee San: Wind in the Palace, an interesting historical story. However, it's a story that was beautifully and effectively told in 16-17 episodes of The Red Sleeve, so I doubt that I'll make it to the end of 77 episodes of folks shouting Majesty, and characters directed to be buffoons.
@EllenInEdmonton Oh my god. I appreciate being thorough, but 77 episodes? Like, were these actors paid enough for that much time?
@dnkboston
Since I only have Kocowa until Friday, I decided to jump episodes, from 24-50! It's like the old soap operas I watched. Nothing was lost, other than the Crown Prince is finally the King. I can't fast-forward, so I manually moved ahead through all of the scenes containing side characters. I don't care about them. The majority are being directed to act like idiots. Very little of substance has occurred in the missing episodes.
BTW, one series that was worth every single episode is #EmpressKi. It's super engaging all of the way through.

I''ve finally stopped A Graceful Liar on kocowa after 40+ eps. I think 20 episodes may be my limit for #kdrama.
Though half hour ones are good for a quick lunch ;)

@jane23c @dnkboston
I've had to learn the hard way that the long series that people rave about are generally loved mainly by folks who love long series. I'm not that person. However, there are a few that I felt were worth the time commitment.

Empress Ki keeps coming up.
