The #US has finalized its withdrawal from the #WorldHealthOrganization, one year after #Trump announced the US was ending its 78-yr-old commitment….

But it’s hardly a clean break.

The US owes >$130 million to the global #health agency, according to #WHO. And Trump admin officials acknowledge that they haven’t finished working out some issues, such as lost access to data from other countries that could give America an early warning of a new #pandemic.

US completes withdrawal from World Health Organization

The U.S. has finalized its withdrawal from the World Health Organization. Federal officials announced the completion Thursday. The decision follows President Donald Trump's announcement a year ago. The U.S. owes about $280 million to the WHO, and unresolved issues remain, like access to global health data. Experts warn the move could harm global health responses and hinder U.S. vaccine development. The withdrawal affects U.S. participation in WHO committees and global flu surveillance. Trump cited the WHO's handling of COVID-19 and lack of reforms as reasons for the exit. Critics call the decision shortsighted and reckless.

The headline for this story could read:

"US runs headlong from facts and truth and vetted knowledge"

The U.S. federal government is now the most deeply resourced and powerful unreality machine in world history.

And speaking of MAGA unreality, here's @tzimmer_history on falsehood and radicalization.

"The defining question from here is: How much of their unreality can they impose on the world, and how much damage will they be causing in the process?"
@xankarn 🧵 What I can say is not a serious statistic. But I like to listen to visitors' conversations in the cafeteria of our museum (France, close to the German border). So far, everything has been against Trump. Since the attack on Iran, which violated international law, more and more people are talking about a new axis of evil: The USA and Israel are positioned at the side of Putin and North Korea. And this is done in full awareness that the regime in Iran are also major criminals.
@xankarn 🧵 However, the constant violations of international law, the attempt to destroy bodies such as the UN or WHO, the financing of Nazis before various elections in the EU, and the influence on our elections exerted by X are filling more and more people with sheer hatred.
People also don't understand why no one in the USA is finally stopping a completely derailed president (who can use nuclear weapons). This damage will remain for years.
Only small insights from a France/Germany public.

The unreality machine whirring and whining more loudly than ever.

Those flag draped coffins you're seeing? They're not actually real or important. You'd know that if you were a true patriot, but you're not.

Hegseth complains that reporting on dead troops is bad PR for Trump

At a Pentagon briefing, the defense secretary lashed out at the press while signaling the US war with Iran is “just getting started.”

Mother Jones

This has to be one of the stupidest presidential proclamations in the history of our country. Dumber, by far, that GWB's "mission accomplished" gaffe.

He thinks he's selling sneakers or cell phones. He thinks his salesmanship makes the product (it's war, you dumb lunatic), something desirable.

@xankarn add that to #TheSeditiousFeloninCharge renaming a PAC in 2024 to Never Surrender LLC and using that to make money off of this conflict..one can only be disgusted at every enabler out there..

its on CNN at the moment in their live feeds section

@xankarn This kind of math leads to bankruptcies.
@xankarn Best winning land war in Asia EVER.
