While cleaning up Uncle's old email I discover he has a ton of Hilton Honors points, which he can't use anymore but I can when going to NYC to help him.
(I won't give Hilton money after their capitulation to ICE, but I will gladly use their rooms for free!)
To do this, I need to reset my uncle's Hilton Honors password.
But the password reset email never arrives.
Hilton says it isn't their fault. Perhaps it's Spectrum's? Who the heck knows.
Try again tomorrow, I guess. *sigh*
Other emails are coming into Uncle's inbox, just not the emails from Hilton, so it appears either something is broken on Hilton's end or something is broken on Spectrum's end that is only preventing delivery of some emails.
And yes, I checked Uncle's spam folder, they're not there either.
I was able to regain access to Uncle's #Hilton Honors account after an hour and a half on the phone with Hilton.
The first call lasted 56 minutes and perhaps would have eventually been successful if it hadn't suddenly disconnected. So I had to call back and start over, which took a bit less time since I was able to explain what had already transpired. (1/3)

The people I spoke with on these calls confirmed that Hilton was currently unable to deliver password reset emails to Uncle's email provider, which the Hilton rep I chatted with yesterday could have told me but didn't bother to. *sigh*
Authenticating myself to the people with the power to change the email address on the account was a chore, since the cell phone number on the account hasn't been Uncle's number for at least a decade so I had no idea what it was. (2/3)
I was able to authenticate myself as Uncle by providing:
1) the approximate point balance, which I had in an email to Uncle from last year, shortly before we cancelled the credit card that was adding points to the account;
2) the fact that all the recent points credited to the account were from the credit card, not from staying in hotels; and
3) a code emailed to my Uncle's email account, since those emails apparently go through just fine even though password reset emails don't. 🤦
