In the spirit of #MARCHintosh Have you tried to setup a #Firewire network with an older Mac?
@pk2061 not recently but I used to do that for high speed file transfer prior to having a gigabit network at home!

@pk2061 I have not! I used to use FireWire target disk mode and networking for Time Machine restores, haven't ever tried with a Mac and something else
