@JakobJakob I like the effort, but both in the Blog article as well as the linked explainer video I would've liked more details. Eg, did you know that #WhatsApps e2e encryption comes from #Signal? Or do you know that Signal won't upload your contacts to their servers?

@fallbackerik @JakobJakob funnily enough you do. Signal has built their contacts discovery such that you have cryptographic guarantees that they are not snitching on your contacts. It's quite a nice blogpost they have about that. It's quite interesting and pretty innovative tech.

Important points to clarify. Yes, the encryption technology on WhatsApp is not per se bad. The problem is that they dont apply it everywhere. For example on the chat back-ups, or with whom and how much users communicate.
