The LNG industry is a funnel from our pockets to foreign shareholders.

Eby’s NDP is putting our money into a sinkhole of debt, stranding us with unprofitable assets and US corporate control. Things don’t have to be this way.

Thank you to Nick Gottlieb and Andy Hira for putting it so clearly.

@emilylowan While Premier, Ms Clarke also claimed that LNG was “green energy.” What the hell she had been consuming in order to say that with a straight face is beyond me. The grift of oil — in any of its forms — by governments of Canada and its provinces is long past a presumption of acceptance.

@emilylowan “it creates jobs!” they say.

“It may be cheaper to pay people to stay home” we say.

@emilylowan

The U.S. is a net petroleum exporter. A shortage of Middle East crude and LNG need not necessarily make U.S. prices go up. The price of oil is the same worldwide (except Russian exports). The result is that American consumers will pay at the pump and the furnace.

@emilylowan It's crazy that we live in a province with so much relatively clean hydro power and yet we still use LNG for heating. We should also be careful of supporting hydrogen, the only reason the government is open to it is because LNG groups are lobbying for it, so they can control the distribution of it to your house, just like LNG. Electricity is the only way forward, through hydro, solar and wind.
