Last night's #Ravenloft #DnD game let me pull a few story triggers that are starting to put the puzzle pieces together for the nature of the Red Death in Dementlieu. Again, I extrapolate a lot from what's provided in Van Richten's guide.
- When accosted by beggars, citizens use a red mist spray like mace to mark their assailants to be dealt with 'humanely'. Moments later a vehicle like a fire wagon arrives. Lashed to the front like a figurehead is a wraithlike figure in a mask that disintigrates the offender.
- Saidra D'Honaire herself is out of comission, in a glass coffin at her estate while masquarade balls continue to be held for her benefit
- A wax figure of the party's tiefling is on display and giving everyone bad vibes, pulling from some previous edition fun
- Discarded fashions are in a landfill in Chateaufaux, where literally* wolf-spiders reclaim and respin them into something new
The wolf-spider touch thanks to a player with arachnophobia, I think it went over delightfully!
