I'm in bed with a bad cold and I'm starting to get the urge to found a new religion again. This sounds normal and good to the rest of you, right

@th we're going to need one hell of a bake sale
@th @0xabad1dea I did wonder if churches were being sold like in the UK and used (though I guess already there is Paradiso) - over in Veenendaal Oost they are building a brand new church for use as a church.
@vickyjo @th I suspect they’re still building new churches because it’s cheaper than the long term heating and roofing bills of the old ones. Though I’d rather be cold in an old and hallowed hall.

@0xabad1dea @th I believe it's a combo of Bible Belt and lots of house building. (final phase is being built)

Many of the churches in the area are relatively modern. (post war).

@vickyjo @th @0xabad1dea I just rented an old church in Amsterdam Noord for a week for an event. Definitely happening a lot 😁
@MissTungsten @th @0xabad1dea Yeah, in Brighton there was Fabrica (converted to an art gallery), and the Font and Firkin (converted to a pub), a some of the churches still run as churches, but are used for music and other events. I saw Amanda Palmer at All Saints church in Hove, and some friends saw Marina (and the Diamonds) at St Georges Brighton.
