A service provider at $dayjob just seriously asked us to disable our firewall rules (Allowing all traffic) and antivirus software to install their client software.

Am I overreacting when I say I don't think we should continue doing business with companies that do this shit?

@nightdice just to install? Seams a bit wrong to do so if not in debugging and you want to rule out firewall problems.
I would say "fuck no", they should provide good enough documentation so I cannadjust the firewall.

Just out of curiosity: on windows or Linux?

@thesimbl
just for the installation, yes. No known problems, they just went "please disable your antivirus and firewall to prevent interference issues while it's installing" in advance. What could possibly go wrong?

And it's on windows, unfortunately this is a windows client only environment.
