The more I work with Claude & Codex, I think two points are equally true:

⁃ I could not have done this without the AI
⁃ The AI could not have done this without me.

I’m no longer stuck and I’m excited for what I’m building. This is going to be sooooo good.

@gernot It's nice to read some personal experiences that go beyond "here is how stupid AI is because that's what gets the most likes".

Also I agree; building shit is suspiciously fun again without constantly running against walls. :D

@neo @gernot …until you run out of money.
@softmaus @neo @gernot I’m convinced “good enough” agents runnable locally are almost here.
@Enzo90910 @softmaus @neo @gernot are there any local coding agents, or can I run codex or Claude code with a local llm?
@Enzo90910 @softmaus @gernot Nah, not really. Tried the biggest ones I could cram into 32 GB VRAM and they turned out to be completely unusable for agent tasks. Like ridiculously bad in comparison. A really huge model on a machine with tons of RAM may work, but is far more expensive than to just get a couple of subscriptions. Self-hosting IMO won't make any sense for quite a while.
