I know, I'm years late. But i finally got around redoing my website with a static site generator (hugo). And I'm impressed by the whole approach.

@festal any good tips or references that helped you mastering #hugo. I, too, want to revive my website but everyday forget to take the first step

@xota The most difficult part, for me, was the css, which is the main way to design the pages, since markdown is very limited. Since I know so little css, I had to rely on AI to help me, but that was simple and very reliable.

So, try to find good working template and then start to make tweaks to suit your needs.

And then start. You can run everything within a self-contained folder which makes it easy to simply try things out.

@festal @xota I had a similar issue recently. I had to migrate an old website based on Contao to Hugo. Most was the scraping to get all sites as markdown. The actual frontend stuff was rather quick.
Is your old site still available? It is typically a good starting point to take it as a boiler plate.
