You know that alley behind the train station? Doesn’t get much exposure to road traffic, but cyclists, pedestrians and transit users appreciate it. The coffee kiosk does a steady trade year round. The only other business in the laneway is a timeshare; sometimes it’s a jeweler, at others a pawnshop or a dry cleaner. Yes /those/ kind of establishments, variable in time and space; they rotate in and out of our continuum every two days. The changeover is always at 9:57pm, for some reason. Nobody knows (or tells) where they go besides here-now. I’ll let you know if I get back; I’m hanging up now and putting my phone on stowaway mode. Luv ya.

@Unixbigot Well, that's a marvelous story opener, hopefully this person's fate won't be too dire. 😹
@Tuftears @Unixbigot
Oh, very, but it doesn't feel like one that can be wrapped up in a satisfying way in a few more short segments.
@kelkyag @Unixbigot I think it could be done in a few segments, maybe 3-4? Anyway give 10 science fiction writers a prompt and you'll get 11 stories. ^.^
@Tuftears @Unixbigot
Mmmmmaybe? I am frequently greedy for details and world building, and this intro taunts me with specifics that want explaining. The narrator wants to know why it's like that, too! 📚
@kelkyag @Tuftears i don’t know what happens yet either but i love to hear about it when readers want to know more! <3
