MorphOS is an AmigaOS-like operating system, yet it runs like a charm on vintage PowerPC Macs. Booting it on my Mac mini G4 feels like stepping into an alternate universe: 12 seconds from chime to desktop, and suddenly this old Apple hardware lives in a completely different world. #RetroComputing #VintageComputing https://youtu.be/CZtQFvNGjPA
@phintagecollect I'm partly to blame for the rough experience with the autodetected video modes. While there's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data parsing, turning that to usable and correct screen modes is not easy. One problem with this is that there are untold number of different monitors and it's practically impossible to test your code with all of them.
However, upcoming MorphOS 3.20 release should hopefully improve the EDID to mode parsing to be more usable with digital displays.
