Dave Reed🧵 Twenty-three years ago this month, the U.S. invaded Iraq on lies. Yesterday, the U.S. and Israel launched a full-scale air war on Iran. Same imperial machinery, same hollow justifications. Here we go again.
Iran is not Iraq in 2003. It has a large, battle-tested military, deep regional alliances, and stockpiles of weapons capable of hitting targets across the Middle East. The Trump administration is running the same reckless playbook against a far more capable adversary.
This war is not about Iran's nuclear program. If it were, the U.S. would have stayed in the JCPOA — the deal Trump shredded to please Netanyahu. It's about power, colonial ambition, and a corrupt president wrapping himself in the theater of imperial strength.
This is also an attack on the international legal order built after World War II. Not just a violation of the rules, but a rejection of the rules as a concept. The same project driving the Gaza genocide and the annexation of the West Bank.
