Dear Cities: If you find yourself writing ordinances to ban #Ebikes from parks, please take a look at your streets. Are they safe enough for people--all people, including kids--to ride bikes? I'd bet a lot of money they are not. Fix your streets first, and everybody wins.
A town I know well is threatening an #EBike ban because some (presumably) kids tore up the surface of a pickleball court with their tires. Sure, that sucks. But what sucks more is kids getting forced into streets that were designed with zero regard to the welfare of people who aren't in cars.
We've effectively banned kids from public streets through dangerous, car-centric, speed-inducing designs. Let's not ban them from public parks as well.
The kids are not the problem
