Just got out of the LaMP show at Sultan Room and this is a Scott Metzger appreciation post. It's quite possible that I've literally seen him more than anyone else has and that could've been the best I've ever seen him play, which is saying something. His solos throughout the night were a Thanksgiving feast of awesome, all the flavors, textures and seasoning and even though you've had your fill you just keep stuffing forkfuls of savory, salty, and sweet into your face.

Lots of guitarists can give you different feels during a show, but very often you're thinking "oh, now he's doing Hendrix, now he's doing Page, now he's doing Carlos..." But tonight all the different feels were just different versions of Scott Metzger. I don't know many guitarists who can do that in a single show. Anastasio. Ribot. That might be it.

And the crazy thing is, he's not even the clear centerpiece of this band. He's doing all this as a third of a better-together whole. This band fucking rocks. What a show!
