Hot take: comparing Loops to a casino is fearmongering.

Video is a medium, not a drug.

TikTok is the problem, not short video.

I built Loops for adults who deserve better. No behavior tracking, no dark patterns, real safety tools.

The fediverse deserves a short video platform it can actually trust.

#Loops

Why Loops Matters.

In a world where platforms rise and fall at the whim of governments and boardrooms, we're building something that can't be shut down, sold off, or taken away.

@dansup I think that algorithms are a big problem but don’t you think that infinite scroll in any platform is a reason of addiction too?
With you on this. A Skinner Box doesn't necessarily have to be made maliciously.

if only I could see more than the same 5 videos when I log in. that would be nice

@coolcalmcollected what server are you on, and did you recently join? How many accounts do you follow? What feed are you referring to?

@dansup

I joined about a month ago. I don't remember what server it was. I followed 3? accounts. the 5 same videos were on my FYP. I couldn't scroll beyond them. when I went to a specific account I could open an individual video and watch but if I tried to scroll through the accounts posts I was limited to 3 videos. I assumed the service was either overloaded with recent activity or the issue was on my end (chromebook). I've gone back a couple of times and the issue still persists.

See Vampire Survivors on a good example of how dopamine triggering is not the problem, but how it's used.
