one of my favorite things on fedi is seeing an enormous infodump that is almost totally incomprehensible to me, where someone is just pouring out their heart about a topic that they love, in some gigantic thread of intense nerdery. sometimes I see people post self-consciously as if they feel like they shouldn't be filling up people's timelines with their special interest but I just want to say as a blanket statement, go for it. even if I can't quite understand the facts, the energy is sublime

@glyph I've posted about my interests a few times on Mastodon, but (in general) I mainly use social media to comment on others' posts rather than making original ones myself.

Mostly same, but when I find myself typing an elaborate answer toot I now take the little extra time to format into something that makes sense stand-alone and add tags and mark it public. People seem to find and appreciate those every now and then.
