American heart health worsening, a new study found. Americans do not move enough
People get the message but it’s really hard for some people to get skinny when they’re bombared with high calorie super tasteful junk that costs half the price of healthier options.
It’s a societal problem, not just an individual one.
Healthy food is not more expensive than processed shit. It’s literally not. You can buy an entire tray of chicken breast for the cost of a single big mac meal. Rice, greens, all way cheaper than processed shit. I don’t know where this comes from that healthy food is more expensive, it’s just not. Processed food takes more energy/labor to create, it’s gonna cost more just from a logistics point.
I do agree it’s both. You vote with your wallet, you get up and move around, you eat less. It also doesn’t help that their is a huge HAES movement that promotes being obese like it’s not a health risk. Social media pushes that shit like mad…and also has people just sitting around doom scrolling for hours on end.
That’s fair, but dried beans, rice, and shelf stable produce have been available for a long time. I live in what’s considered a food desert and have access to flash frozen produce and fresh stuff.

A large portion of what’s considered a food desert is not a food desert, just means you gotta drive further than the majority of people. Which is normal in rural areas. The USA is massive, and when you live in a rural county, you’re going to be driving. This doesn’t mean they’re lacking produce or fresh food or healthy food that’s not UPFs. It just means it’s a drive. I drive 14 miles to my nearest supermarket, and it’s got plenty of fresh foods, as do the majority of people who live in rural areas. I
Funny you should mention. Chicken is the single most obesogenic food you can buy. Perhaps you should research the stuff you’re trying to tell people about.
Compared to those who didn’t eat any chicken at all, those eating about 20 or more grams of chicken a day had a significantly greater increase in their body mass index. That’s around one chicken nugget, or a single chicken breast once every two weeks compared to no chicken at all.
