Everybody is (understandably) very excited that Anthropic isn't selling their AI for Hegseth to use to automate his war crimes. But I would gently suggest that we not accept setting the bar quite so low. https://www.anildash.com/2026/02/27/a-cookie-for-dario/
A Cookie for Dario? — Anthropic and selling death

@anildash OpenAI seems to have stepped in within hours.
@anildash I admire you a lot Anil, but I think failing to differentiate the different choices made by these companies is not beneficial to the public. I was hoping this would be an opportunity to educate folks about the differences.
@mathcolorstrees I’m not sure I understand the point you’re making. That I should have catalogued what every other company did?

@anildash Not at all, I am hoping to see a way for people to differentiate between options personally. If they have to use AI, which a lot of people are, is there one option that could be better than others. Or they might as well just go with the big baddies because it’s all the same.

I’m open to understanding if I’m missing a point here about our options. Or am I worrying unnecessarily? Or is it that you believe they are in fact all the same?

@anildash I know your piece was a critique and not what I’m asking for, and I’m not in a place to tell you to write something else.

Really I should write something myself but I’m exhausted by the discourse. I was looking to people I respect to give some practical advice. Something like, “hey they are not amazing, but here is a sign that there are differences and you should choose accordingly”
