It seems the CBC killed their RSS feeds. There have been no new articles since 25 February 2026

Not possible to subscribe either

Il semblerait que le service anglais de Radio-Canada ont terminé leurs fils RSS. Il n’y a pas eu de nouveaux articles depuis le 25 février 2026

Pas possible non plus de s’abonner

An update on the CBC RSS feed situation. It seems they're blocking specific user-agents, including NetNewsWire.

Their support team responded:
> Unfortunately accessing our content via RSS feed is not popular with many users and so resources are generally being allocated to other areas and fixes for glitches with current RSS feeds are not being prioritized. I'm sorry we don't have better news.

Oh hello, the CBC RSS feed just updated

Oh allô, le fil RSS du service anglais de Radio-Canada vient de se mettre à jour

@EdwinG who needs the conservatives to cancel CBC when they’re doing it to themselves. The mobile homepage has like 12 articles at a time that are completely irrelevant to me

@auxonic That's their decision.

I have subscribed to another news source when I read their email. It won't have local news though, because only CityNews and CBC give local news in a non-bandwidth killing method.

@EdwinG @auxonic so much citizen-hostile behaviour coming out of the CBC these days. A few weeks ago I had to beg and plead several times to obtain stream URLs for the various Radio-Canada feeds — even though their website clearly states that I am allowed to ask for and receive them — and in the end they wouldn't give me all of them.

Entitled complacent contempt for the public, is the only way I can describe it. A worrying trend I see in other public services too…

@NeueWelle Radio-Canada no longer does podcasts.

They actually filed a legal request to remove their podcasts from podcast apps

https://podnews.net/article/radio-canada-versus-open-podcasting

@auxonic

Radio-Canada threatens podcast app using its podcast feeds

One half of the Canadian public service broadcaster doesn't understand how podcasting works; and threatens podcast developers instead

Podnews

@EdwinG @auxonic wow, what a joke. Either you publish an RSS feed or you don't, it's really simple. Crazy that they block NetNewsWire and go after podcast clients.

It's now easier for me to listen to the BBC and Radio-France than it is to the CBC and Radio-Canada. Quite shameful

@NeueWelle their English and French services don’t communicate with one another.

So you can subscribe to podcast from the CBC but you can’t do RSS. However Radio-Canada‘s RSS feeds work, but they don’t do podcast anymore.

On both services, news and podcasts are on different platforms.

@auxonic

@EdwinG for a while they had very similar apps, almost two different skins of the same thing, but it's all different now. The only thing they seem to have in common is the account system. Both CBC and Radio-Canada serve the login window from the same address and confuse my password manager 🫠

But each manages to find their own way of being uniquely user-hostile 😅

@NeueWelle Good news… only the front page is common.

You can’t login to a CBC account from Radio-Canada and vice versa. It would make too much sense if it would!

Also, their CEO said last year that they are looking at unifying their platforms to reduce costs. So there’s a little bit of hope.

@EdwinG @NeueWelle I loath paying directly for CBC but I do… CBC gem is about $7/month and ICI.tv is like $15… and you can’t get the alternate language content even for CBC owned shows. Drives me nuts.

@EdwinG Oh man, I listened to beacoup des balados de radio-canada quand j'étudias pour mes examens français!

At a time when the Official Languages Act is requiring government departments and agencies to take proactive positive measures to support official language minority communities, making French-language programming harder to access is a proactive regressive measure.

@EdwinG
Blocking specific agents isn’t something that requires a fix. That’s a deliberate choice.
@fname It does require a fix... to their choice! :)
@EdwinG are you sure? Seeing updated stories here https://www.cbc.ca/rss/
CBC.ca - RSS Feeds

CBC News RSS Feeds allow you to read through the news you want, at your convenience

@nev Nothing. All of them give the same “Feed not found” error.

I took my example from that page.

@EdwinG weird. I see the XML just fine in Firefox, but the feeds aren't refreshing in my RSS client (Capy Reader)

edit: and unsubscribing and adding the URL again manually just results in "Couldn't find feed"

@EdwinG I think this is likely a technical glitch, probably worth reaching out to them about it
@nev I opened a support ticket.
@EdwinG My existing ones show up as kind of broken in FreshRSS, but get fetched OK from Vivaldi's built-in reader. Suspect they've changed how they do them.

@tim_lavoie I reached out to their support team.

I thought they blocked all Apple devices, but that wouldn’t break FreshRSS.

@EdwinG Calling the W3C validator (from within FreshRSS, nice!), shows it as valid, but with recommended changes for best compatibility:

https://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Frss.cbc.ca%2Flineup%2Fcanada-britishcolumbia.xml

@EdwinG
And previously, the .pls files for the various CBC Radio stations that I used with Rhythmbox are gone.
title="CBC | Top Stories News" type="rss" xmlUrl="https://www.cbc.ca/webfeed/rss/rss-topstories"
seems okay
Maybe just acbc-technologies?

@Kgou No, it’s everything - top stories included.

It’s a block put in place by CBC (very technical):
https://github.com/Ranchero-Software/NetNewsWire/issues/5161#issuecomment-3980134452

Simply put, they filter on the app one uses.

Can't add Feeds (CBC) · Issue #5161 · Ranchero-Software/NetNewsWire

Recently my CBC feeds started failing. I removed them and then tried to re-add them. However I get the "Can't add feed" error message on both iphone and Mac. The feed shows up fine in my browser, a...

Interesting and weird. Just read an article where the single maintainer of curl is getting overloaded by AI generated bug reports.
