While Waterworld isn't good by any stretch of the imagination, if you are playing a "location of the week" type game (say you were a Time Travelling Hobo type character), it's perfectly ok a background for that game, and provides plenty of material for it.

Quite a lot of not-great-but-visual films make for good "Time Travel Box Arrives and goodness the entire place is water..." adventures.

@lordof1 @Printdevil Two reasons: (a) it's usually easier to rip out one chunk of it without leaving lots of bleeding connections, and (b) if your players recognise where you stole it from they may be too embarrassed at having also read it to mention it.

I think most bad fiction in short-doses is simply "hokey" and that suits the fun of a picaresque travelling game.

@RogerBW I've been toying with the idea of whether I should listen to this podcast, since the movie is a bit crappy, but I expect there will be an injection of your trademark questioning the movie's plausibility that will make it worth the listen. @lordof1

@RogerBW @lydiaconwell Roger certainly has opinions on this. We discussed the plausibility at length (because the film doesn’t have a great deal else to discuss).
