#GrapheneOS announces they're partnering with a new phone and may just be permanently switching away from the Google Pixel. The new phone is yet to be announced, but similarly priced to the Pixel.

Meanwhile, #NothingPhone, whose latest model is similarly priced to the Google Pixel, announces they're launching their next phone model soon.

Surely just a coincidence.

update: nm it's probably gonna be Motorola ig, my hunch *was* just a coincidence

@GTRzilla @kewliomzx nice...but isn't #Motorola an US american company, too?
And hopefully #grapheneOS stays as independent as it is now *keeping-fingers*crossed*
@Erich @GTRzilla @kewliomzx Motorola Smartphones department belongs to Lenovo now, and Lenovo is Chinese company. And most smartphones are made/assembled in China.
@a53bdb @GTRzilla @kewliomzx ah, thanks for clarification.
@Erich @GTRzilla @kewliomzx American/Chinese. I guess you can't have it all. If you wanted European HW, you would need to go... *checks notes*... Jolla.
@vonxylofon @GTRzilla @kewliomzx Yes, I have heard of this. Do you have any experience with #Jolla ?
@Erich @GTRzilla @kewliomzx A colleague of mine has had the first phone for years. It's slow and the software is somewhat flaky. Others have been complaining about various bugs as well, so daily driving it doesn't seem to be a great idea.
@vonxylofon @GTRzilla @kewliomzx okay, thanks. Anyway, I Think I'll invest some Euros in a Pixel 3a... Just for giving it a try...nothing to loose :)
@Erich @GTRzilla @kewliomzx For tinkering? Sure. Do read the forums first, though, so that you know what you're getting into.
