The future's so bright I gotta jump in the glue pot now.

@cstross

I'm not going to lie, there's a form of base satisfaction to be found in people declaring that education (or some subset, such as the humanities) is useless in a way that inherently reveals the need for it.

@cstross honesty that would be almost relatable right now
@cstross There’s a tragic irony in that he apparently never even thought to ask his AI what happened to the horse population after cars.
@Chigaze That's an unwarranted assumption. It's also possible that he did ask his AI and it told him that all the horses are happy.
@cstross

@cstross
I get guitar-making related emails, today’s was about different types of glue.

A few years ago I read* that Corinthian leather is horse hide. Put a different spin of old car commercials from my childhood.

*apparently not the case, I may have misremembered, or what I read was wrong.

@cstross Every AI tech bro ever is so smug about how people can finally stop learning skills and just "do things". Yet most people in IT world already know the concept of a coder who can't code to save their life. If anyone needs an example of what the code is like, Github's full of it now.

@apz @cstross

If he'd studied more in school he'd know humans are obligate tool users.

I wonder sometimes if these rich yahoos imagine humans regressing to some happy neo-apehood, all watched over by machines of loving grace.

@cstross There are a lot fewer horses than before the invention of the car.

Most of these horses that are kept for recreational riding probably live better lives on average.

The analogy still makes no sense at all.

@cstross
It's so on point for an AI Bro to have heard the phrase 'The internal combustion engine saved the horse' and generated a rationale of absolute crap through having no understanding of the phrase's meaning or the context

@cstross I bet you the ai wrote that.

They do seem to speak to people at their level. 🤣
