Installing washing machines-- Can anyone on here explain why all the advice I can find on the maximum length of a water inlet hose for a washing machine is about 1.5 metres? Surely it's just an extension of the tens of meters of pipework to get the water to where it's attached?

Is there a link to something or more than one post in this thread?
I cant see what it refers to
@OliverNoble Sorry, me being stupid! I'll add the info I missed! It concerns installing a washing machine.

@JohnDal
For a washing machine, i cant see it having any functional issues at all

Some equipment like pressure washers that *pump* water dont like the restriction to flow from flexible pipes and hoses (the hoses are often small bore) but washing machines just open a valve a water flows in

Very, very low *pressure* can occasionally cause problems with the initial opening of inlet valve but that isnt the case with restricted flow

@JohnDal

I suspect the advice is related to plumbing regulations and risk of damage to flexible hoses rather than any functional issues

TL:DR It will work fine, but long hoses are better avoided

@OliverNoble Thanks for that insight, very reassuring.
