Photo taken a few minutes ago at Málaga María Zambrano station.

Normally I would be pleased to get such a variety of trains into a single photo. But not today. Malaga remains cut off from the rest of the Spanish high-speed network by a landslide near Álora, with no immediate prospect of a restored service.

So of all these trains, only the diesel railcar furthest from the camera can go anywhere. For the rest, the station is just a place to park.

Today, Día de Andalucía, the station should be even busier than a normal Saturday morning. But the concourse is almost deserted. I never thought I'd feel nostalgic for the queues for the x-ray machines.

Renfe does offer a bus service to connect to high speed trains at Antequera Santa Ana. It's also possible to get to that station by Media Distancia train, but Renfe doesn't like to publicise that - I guess there is no spare capacity to absorb long distance passengers.

According to press reports today, there won't be any services on the Málaga to Antequera high speed line until late April at the earliest, and even then with speed restrictions.

Separately, the Antequera to Algeciras line is also closed at the moment. So not a good time for rail transport in Málaga province.

@alan Pfff. Any time Alora is in the news it's because of floodings or other storm-related damage 😕 .
@jpoesen
I've only just remembered that my Mastodon profile has a photo of a high speed train crossing a viaduct in Álora in happier times.
@alan liking the pic for the variety on display.
Hopefully they get things up and running again soon
@alan that's got to be a photo for the ages, current circumstances put to the side.
