Watching a documentary about ww1 trenches AND it got me thinking.

How long was it until the trenches were buried?

Obviously there was miles and miles of German and allies trenches and today they are just fields etc.

Ww2 was 21 years after ww1... were any trenches used in ww1 ALSO used in ww2?

I know trenches are still used today, look at Ukraine etc. But not quite in the same way as in ww1.

Like... parts of Hadrians wall still stand and the Romans left ages ago...

It's just all fields now.

Blue is British and French, white German. The bit inbetween is no mans land which is straight up just farmland.

A place that has been exposed to such pain and death is remembered indefinitely but lies a cutesy rural French town in the country.

Wierd.

*also the white city... influence for Lord of the Rings?

Okay it does have a monument... still tho just like any other lane in western europe
