It's FriYay! Congrats to our mom! Today marks 1 month of her Amazon detox. Yay Mom! Amount spent at Amazon? $0.00 Amazing. It feels so good that it's going to continue. Pretty sure billionaire Jeff doesn't miss her cash, but what if other people are doing the same thing?

Have a good weekend everyone. Celebrate the weekend by doing something that makes YOU feel good. XOXO Rosie & Susie

@TheDoodletons My last order was received 06Jan26. Don't miss it a bit. I spend just a bit more time considering my prospective purchases and where I'll buy them. No big deal. I am in an area with just about every chain store there is withing 5 miles so not a big chore for me. I imagine folks that aren't surrounded by franchise glut or don't have convenient transportation would find it much more difficult to get away from AMZN.
@eccentricgeezer Exactly! I'm surprised I don't miss it either. I did have a few days of withdrawal from the instant gratification, but now... not even a deal alert gets me to even look. I'm somewhat rural, not in a shopping mecca, but I'll get by. Glad to hear I'm not alone!
@TheDoodletons The small thing I worked against was the deep habit of just click, click, buy. Telling spouse, 'It will be here next Tuesday'. I have had a couple of 'where's my stuff you ordered' comments and I think that will go on for a bit. But ya know, spouse can learn to shop for themselves. Ha!
Best of luck on your getaway.

@eccentricgeezer I get it. I've had interesting things happen since I started the detox. I order coffee pods, so Alexa reminds me. She did. I looked at the price. Didn't order. The next day she reminded me again. I looked again and the price had dropped by $15. Coincidence?

She alerted me for a deal on a table.and said "order in the next 15 minutes to get the deal." 15 minutes is like scam material. She's going to miss me too! HAHAHA

Good luck to you as well!

@TheDoodletons Algorithm driven pricing paranoia. All my Echos have been dumped at the recycler. No more subliminal shopping tips from her! :) I was freaked a bit by the uncanny suggestions. Glad to get rid of those surveillance gadgets.
More seriously, getting out of the whole AMZN environment I think has been the key for me. No Prime, No music, No credit card, No apps. Still don't know how to decouple from Audible though.
@eccentricgeezer I was wondering about that. My echos control a lot of stuff with routines. But no way I'm going with alexa+. I assume they're phasing out the "regular" alexa and my decision will be made for me.
My prime comes up in march so I have a couple of weeks to unplug and get used to it. Thanks for the encouragement!
