@lowqualityfacts Or people just having fun with treasure hunters. There was a place in Nova Scotia that had a lighthouse and tales of buried treasure. A lighthouse keeper entertained himself by burying old pots and the like in the popular digging places, would watch as someone would get excited about their shovel hitting something, excitedly digging it up, and would laugh at their disappointment when their faces would fall as they pulled up an old piece of trash. :)
