Yesterday, I ran a scan of the available #TLS cipher suites in the #Tor production network:

32.32% of our relays currently support the x25519/ML-KEM-768 hybrid #PQC key exchange group.

Relay operators, let's get this number up! 🤩

Big thanks to the #OpenSSL team for providing the PQC support here and making it available to all of us! 🎉😎

More information in https://lists.torproject.org/mailman3/hyperkitty/list/[email protected]/thread/MYP2MQDFTJUODF7SJNLJRWLXJK3KTUEU/ and the individual relay results are available from https://ahf.me/tor-tls-pqc/2026-02-26/

@ahf this is great progress! It would be really cool to see this %age over time via the tor metrics site.

@heretohinder Once I have another scan, I will look into vizualizing these datasets as time series.

@nopressure and the Network Health Team is doing pretty epic work towards modernizing the entire Tor metrics ecosystem, and I think at some point we can figure out a way to more systemically get various active scans into the data pipelines. For now this kind of scan is happening in a more experimental setting 😄
