The Nova hatch was launched in 1982 and the saloon came along a couple of years later. In most European markets, this car was the first-generation Opel Corsa but Vauxhall reportedly thought the word Corsa carried unfortunate implications of coarseness. Later generations of the car were badged as Corsa in the UK as well.
