Before you claim free speech, it's a bit different in Canada 😉

"Freedom of speech in Canada guarantees freedom of thought, belief, opinion, and expression, including press freedom. While fundamental to democracy, this right is not absolute and is subject to "reasonable limits" under Section 1, such as restrictions on hate speech, defamation, and obscenity."

@dansup
Am really impressed by the policies in Canada. Freedom of speech shouldn't mean use of vulgar languages or using that Freedom to suppress and violate other people's rights. Didn't the Canadians protest against this policy?
@nuwagaba2 @dansup the debate of censorship has been huge in the US since the 60’s. Most people hear "censorship" and automatically say it’s bad. But it’s not inherently bad. There is bad censorship, but there’s also good censorship.
For example, if somebody is using free speech to threaten somebody, and therefore restricting that person’s free speech, that’s not free speech for everyone.
The problem is when the US implemented free speech, the abuse of it was not a foreseeable issue.
@Slic330
That's right. How many people would support that such a policy?
@Slic330 @nuwagaba2 @dansup yeah well i wouldnt get too held up on what the americans are saying about free speech, because it is that very free speech that is a huge contributor to the active retardation of the entire population of people. The media can say what they want, with no repercussions, and as a direct consequence of this, people see no reason not to believe the shite they are hearing. Secondly, what amounts to bad and good censorship is too subjective for this sort of discussion.
@darknetDon
You're right at a certain extent. Do you support freedom of speech or speech censorship?
