Ehh... It's just okay. Clearly made for young teens. There are lots of better shows to watch if you haven't done so yet (Deep Space Nine, Babylon 5, The Orville). Out of the new Treks, Lower Decks is by far my favourite. Strange New Worlds is pretty good too - definitely better than Academy.

@alisynthesis It may not be the place to start the more recent series although it does stand alone (as Starfleet 90210 - not a bad thing) but you'll miss a lot of the callbacks.

@alisynthesis it's a good pulp soapy drama show with spaceships and fun characters! From what I've seen, people who don't like it, mainly don't like it because they're very invested in a Star Trek having a particular form, so if you're not a Trekkie but can enjoy Trek-shaped things, I'd say you should watch the first 2-3.

@alisynthesis not a trekkie but generally appreciate most of the series. I wasn't too taken with the first episode, but 2,3,4 were all solid ST storytelling from my POV and I enjoyed them. Ep. 5 was a WTF moment, and we'll see what Ep. 6 brings today.

Holly Hunter, though ... just amazing. Such a great and utterly different captain.
