Many Hercule #Poirot stories first appeared in The Strand, including this one, the weird mystery 'The Dream' (February 1938). It was typical of the period for all characters to be glamourised, hence his unlikely rendition of him. I don't think #AgathaChristie approved: in 1939 he was old and dumpy.
