I was looking at photos of Tintern Abbey, a famous abby that losts its roof centuries ago, and came across this gorgeous painting by Frederick Calvert(1815) of plants growing up the structure.

It looks like it inspired many painters.

@neauoire there are so many ruined abbeys in England, can't help wondering if it was part of what stimulated the Victorian obsession with Gothic styles and ghost stories.
