I'm thinking that this is a made up font as there are two different 'E's in use.
Anyone know better?

@Documentally maybe @blag would be interested in it too :)
@rafa @Documentally Yes, that final E is very curious, but otherwise it looks like someone copying from a font. Maybe someone at @FontsInUse can identify what that might be?
@blag @rafa @FontsInUse cheers for taking a look. A passer by has since told me that the last ‘E’ might be code as the town was riddled with smugglers in years gone by.
@Documentally @blag @rafa It does indeed have a few stylistic treats in common with typefaces from the late 19th century, see Arbor, Oceana, Primitive and the related ones linked on those pages.

Not finding any direct matches, though. (Which doesn’t mean there isn’t a typeface that comes closer.)
Arbor (Farmer) in use

Cast by Farmer as Arbor before 1885 [1885 Farmer specimen]. Photo-Lettering had a phototype adaptation named Telephone Xenotype [PLINC One Liner 1971]. See Surely You Jest NF (Nick’s Fonts, 2005) for a digital interpretation.
