Not sure if I'll include this new Krita brush I created specifically for this episode in my upcoming brush pack, but it's fun to play with 😅🖌️🦜🦜🦜

While I'm here, check out the timelapse: https://www.peppercarrot.com/0_sources/miniFantasyTheater/making-of/040.mp4 This time, I took a more traditional approach: sketch, inking, painting the background, and then characters. Along the way, I think I found a good preset for inking.

@davidrevoy
Probably shouldn't include it; that brush is strictly for the birds.

@davidrevoy Finally, the perfect tool for making AI (Avian Intelligence) Art!

It's even a nice red for making one of them No AI 🚫 signs if people still make 'em

@davidrevoy the sad thing is, at least they produced the extra avian intelligence units.

the gpus and datacenters irl, on the other hand, have not been produced and yet they already have such a drastic impact on prices...

@rgbunny @davidrevoy They brought stones, they expect they'll make them magic at some point so they can go into the avian intelligence units but they pre-bought so many there's now a scarcity of stones and magic stones now command a pretty price.
@nini @rgbunny @davidrevoy exactly. RAM, GPUs, SSDs, HDDs, they’re all available, they just jacked up the prices in anticipation of a shortage that may never eventuate. That means fewer people are buying them, so they’ll end up with a glut of hardware once the bubble bursts, and a market that’s used to holding onto their old hardware or finding a second hand deal instead of buying new.
@rgbunny @davidrevoy no they produced all the fake images.
@davidrevoy @rgbunny and before someone very smart comes along and pretends that soon we'll just have more 3nm clean rooms to produce enough wafers for everyone... that stuff takes like 5 years and that's if you can actually buy the tooling and have the money, so it's more like a decades.

@rgbunny @davidrevoy The data centers are being built with electricty access and public opposition as the bottlenecks. But construction is happening and manybare finished already.

@davidrevoy My Avian Intelligence told me selling Avian Intelligences is REALLY profitable...
@Minski @davidrevoy I confirm. My avian intelligence says the same thing.

@jdoe @Minski @davidrevoy Uh? No, no. My Avian Inteligence tells me that more profitable than that is selling bananas. When asking it to detail it a little bit more, it also says something about cat litter to be the next most profitable thing.

Your Avian Intelligences should learn from mine.

@RoboePi Nice reference to the RAM article ;)

@jdoe @Minski @davidrevoy

@davidrevoy Hi I'm quite new to the series, is this also part of Pepper and Carrot included in the hardcover bundle? If not where can I buy the paper form?

@BigShellEvent Hey, thanks for joining! No, MiniFantasyTheater (MFT) is a weekly series a bit new, not part of Pepper&Carrot, but I'm keeping this series in my fantasy world (named Hereva, a parody of a serious world building).

You can read them here: https://www.peppercarrot.com/en/webcomics/miniFantasyTheater.html

Maybe I'll have a look later this spring at offering PDF/Epub/cbz of MFT and a print on demand version too. I have to study if DriveThrewComics POD have a square format. I'll keep news about it here and on the blog.

MiniFantasyTheater - Pepper&Carrot

Official homepage of Pepper&Carrot, a free(libre) and open-source webcomic about Pepper, a young witch and her cat, Carrot. They live in a fantasy universe of potions, magic, and creatures.

Pepper&Carrot
@davidrevoy amazing thank you! Cannot wait til I can have the print form, but I understand it takes so much work!

@davidrevoy oh no me again. Tried to buy the set via OpenBookShelf, and after extensive back and forth with both my bank and the vendor, I think they will never be able to charge my cards as there seem to be some vague technical issues (per 2026 all technical issues are "oops something went wrong" so I can't even target and solve it).

Do you sell your printed books via any other vendors?

@BigShellEvent Oh no, I had no idea it could happen. It was with DriveThruComics, right? (I know they have multiple name, same company).
There is this Italian Publisher "Silly Comics" that run a Kickstarter right now and prints also the English version. I wrote a bit about it on the blog https://www.davidrevoy.com/article1118/welcome-to-silly-studios-a-new-publisher ; except that, I don't have anything else.
Welcome to Silly Studios, a new publisher!

David Revoy
@davidrevoy Ah, got it. Seems like DriveThruComic has some ongoing issues with the cards and they are aware of it. Thank you for your help!
@davidrevoy This needs a "later that night..." followup ;)
@davidrevoy I notice that the shopkeeper DOESN’T have an Avian Intelligence sitting on his shoulder…
@davidrevoy
A friend writes
"Well I don't know the details. You would think some one would ensure they are actually building stuff."
(Artificial shortage of Western Digital drives & East German 4th generation male sheep).
@davidrevoy rent * not sell 😅
@davidrevoy
Casting the "ai" as a mechanical *parrot* is freakin genius!
@kitkat_blue Thank you!
@davidrevoy
aww! :D thank you too for your wonderful art and comic! I never miss a single one!
@kitkat_blue @davidrevoy, hmm, they're the wrong colour. They should be grAI.

@davidrevoy Aww... Based on a true story.

I bet the cauldrons use up a lot of magic stones, too! They're pretty big, and the stones are pretty small.

@ToonLink Yes, My defective RAM gave me inspiration 🥲

A good news: G.Skill accepted the warranty return, and sending new ones. The bad news: they wanted the 'couple' of RAM stick I bought at that time, so I'm returning 16GB, and run right now with only 16GB. For real; it's ok: with a little RAM monitor on my systray bar, it's to start to close things when consumption is too high.

Oh yes, the cauldrons use way more resources 😺 I need to show this as well. 😊

@davidrevoy Ohhh, that's good to hear! I was worried that they would decide your sticks were too old and maybe only offer a discount on new ones. >__> Though I suppose that would still be better than paying full price.

Hehehe, yes, I know what you mean. There's a flaw in my motherboard that only lets me use two sticks out of four, so I'm stuck with 16 GB, too It's doable, but when my client wants me to do huge formats, it's impossible.

Hopefully your new ones will work well!

@davidrevoy soooooo. hoch much for an AI-Parrot?

could be less than 600 gold and could be scraped for parts 😁

@davidrevoy This is nothing short of an amazing analogy for the current state of things.
@davidrevoy Well done, and painfully real.

@davidrevoy

so … how easy is gutting an Avian Intelligence?

(ya know, just askin’)

@davidrevoy I feel like an extra panel for this would be her asking if she can just get an AI for cheaper and just take one of its gems, and the shop keep being like “sorry, we grind those gems different for Avian Intelligence, they’re useless for wands.”

@bearmine 😆 True.

− 👩 "...and how much for a AI Parrot?"
− 👴 "Oh, take it, and take these 100 gold coins too. That's the AI industry paying you to inflate their total number of users. They desperately need a growth curve to keep investors on board."

@davidrevoy @bearmine "Very well, then I take 6 AI parrots and one gem for my wand."

@Habrok42 @bearmine

"I take 6 parrot, but I iwll only pay 50%. Oh, and a filleting knife" 🔪

@davidrevoy

@davidrevoy Nice way to call out the Hardware situation. Great comic as usual.
@davidrevoy it's my genuine belief that what's going on with the computing industry amounts to fraud
@davidrevoy “All of them are already sold. Plus, all of the future stones scheduled for the next years are currently sold out, too.”
@TritTriton @davidrevoy
But they've been paid for with gold that doesn't exist yet, linked to cauldrons that haven't been built yet, to solve problems that no one has created the spell for.
@davidrevoy I love this so much thank you!

@davidrevoy Well, if a magic stone used to be worth 40! gold coins, at 600 gold coins they are now much cheaper…

(Sorry! I’ll see myself out. 😅)

@davidrevoy Heh, this was chat today talking about hard drives. What do you mean Western Digital has sold all their SSDs for 2026? How is that a sentence?
@drgroftehauge @davidrevoy I... thought it only hit the RAM... WHAT!?
@doraii @davidrevoy Nah, SSDs are about twice as expensive as they were 3 months ago.
GPUs... well.
@drgroftehauge @davidrevoy Just checked my nigh 5 years old budget laptop (i3, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, 720p screen) and HOLY SHIT, it's $330 to buy a used one!
