One of the things that's most frustrating about the hype cycle around OpenClaw is that so much of what people are excited about is just... software? You can automate doing lots of cool stuff with your inbox with deterministic software that's been around for decades, and it won't delete your inbox! And much of it is easier to install than OpenClaw is!
@anildash I know that you already know to reserve some of the frustration for the world that leaves people desperate to just tell the computer what they want to happen in plain language without clicking through rules wizards and whatnot…. The illusion is so compelling…
@doty even there, a plain-language front end to deterministic code could be so much more powerful!
@anildash yes agreed! “Please make me rules that do this…” “does this look like what you want?” Etc
@doty @anildash I think that’s the result of the early adopters being themselves and wanting the most of it.
Eventually the industry will figure out that the majority wants to have freedom to use natural language but with guardrails and guidance for the most part.
They basically want a working Siri yet no one is giving them precisely that.
