The German film festival #Berlinale is abolishing itself. After this year's jury president #WimWenders claimed films should not be political (and importantly not criticise #Israel or call out #genocide), the German gov now wants to fire festival director #TriciaTuttle.

Because award-winner Abdallah #Alkhatib has criticised #Germany & "abused" his speech for "political destruction" (whatever that is).

I mean what the fuck. If art is not allowed to be political and the government censors it for being critical of its politics, what the heck is the difference between the Federal Republic's and the "Democratic" Republic of Germany's approach to art?!
