Can someone explain to me why Oracle is holding on to the JavaScript trademark? No one actually pays them for it, right? It matters less than nothing in the real world and just comes off petty as hell.

@raymondcamden “petty as hell” That very well could actually be the full explanation. Oracle has been known for decades as being extremely petty.

eg: When Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems back in 2010 they went out of their way to try and _close_ the source code of the OS that Sun had built and painstakingly open sourced. This was a Sun project that took a couple years to accomplish. Look up “Fork yeah! A history of Illumos” if you’re interested in a very entertaining retelling of that history and some thoughts on Oracle’s inability to be normal.

@keawade it's my stupid assumption that most people are generally nice - but most people probably arent upper management at oracle ;)
