Behold the majesty of my work calendar!

I'm using Notion Calendar right now because it's free and quite excellent. I'm just assessing the market right now, but are there any calendar apps you find truly spectacular at the moment?

Do not say Apple Calendar, I have tried and tried, and it suuuuuuuuucks for me 😅

@matt_birchler I‘m at a similar point every year when my @flexibits Sub renews. Everytime I come to the conclusion that it is the best and I’m not willing to sacrifice a few features to use another app - happy customer even if it’s a bummer that there isn’t a cheaper tier without a lot of „business“ features that I rarely use.
@flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits I’ve ended my Fantastical subscription despite having been with them since their menubar-only days. It’s just too expensive — especially when, like you, I’m only using a small subset of its functionality. Apple Calendar makes me shake my head because it’s so frustrating, but it’s just good enough. 🤷‍♂️ None of this is ideal.
@tantramar @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits Every year I want to cancel Fantastical. Every year I try alternatives. Never found one that didn't have something missing that I needed. BusyCal comes closest for me in functionality and is a one off purchase, but aesthetically there is always something that hurts my eyes. Maybe I should get over the nitpicking and save some money by finally cancelling my Fantastical subscription.
@athanasiosa @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits A major thing for me is that the number of meetings I attend fell off a cliff in March, 2020, and hasn’t ever really recovered. Remote, online meetings haven’t made up the difference. 🤷‍♂️
@tantramar @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits To be honest, I don't have too many meetings either. But I love how polished Fantastical is. Even though I don't use most features, the few I use are in a different league compared to Calendar app et al. Something so essential like easy rescheduling for example.
@athanasiosa @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits Oh, adding an appointment to Apple Calendar on iOS is a total clown show. Still, it’s better than it was last time I tried it a couple of years ago. Something I suspect devs forget is that their pricing often comes with significantly higher sticker shock once converted from US dollars.

@tantramar @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits So I did my yearly dance and once more decided to bite the bullet and renew Fantastical 😭

And now on to the yearly 1Password dance.

How I wish Apple Passwords had better support for non-login info like notes and Apple Calendar better everything.

@athanasiosa @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits Secure notes in Apple Notes?
@tantramar @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits Sadly not an option. The risk of modifying or deleting info while "grabbing" it is too big. If it had e dedicated edit button for notes rather than defaulting into edit mode...
@athanasiosa @flohgro @matt_birchler @flexibits I’ve never been a Notes user — the days of it synchronizing data via IMAP cured me of that (also trying to import an Evernote library once nearly killed me), so I haven’t encountered this behaviour.
@tantramar @flohgro @matt_birchler Yeah, IMAP notes and Evernote can have that effect 😂
